SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Good Monday! We ended the weekend with drying conditions and slightly above average temperatures, and part of the Wasatch front started this morning with high winds!

Gusts of wind in the canyon triggered a wind advisory from Bountiful to Ogden, with winds blowing overnight until the wee hours of the morning. We will see windy conditions for the rest of the day, but a fairly calm setup will start the week.

The record high pressure system that has raised temperatures across the Pacific Northwest leaves us with a drier and warmer start to the week here in the Grand Basin. The gradual warming trend will bring a high of 93 at Salt Lake City, with a low of 90 expected along the Wasatch front.

Daytime highs this time of year sit at 89 for SLC, but we’ll stay above that throughout the week. Mainly sunny to partly cloudy skies are expected across the state. The weather in the Uinta Basin and Castle Country will oscillate between the mid to high 80s, with the 90s in central Utah and southern Utah.

The hot spot on Monday? St. George with a maximum of 104 predicted and winds developing throughout the day. The possibility of an isolated thunderstorm is also possible across southern Utah, particularly in the afternoon, as southern humidity continues to soar northward.

This is a trend that will continue throughout the week, with the risk of thunderstorms increasing and humidity increasing further north by Friday.

While it may be early to discuss it, the holiday weekend appears to bring storms to parts of the state. Stay up to date with the weather!

With the risk of thunderstorms in the forecast, you can stay informed with the accurate weather team both live and online at abc4.com/weather.
